The Mad Löggers were a rock band with Toner Low and Only Entertainment members and was named after the local 1915 Gekkenlogger murder case.
When in spring 2001 the music of stoner rock band Toner Low began to shift to a more stoner doom oriented style, it left the band with quite some riff ideas that were too 'rocky'. They didn't want to throw them all away, so Toner Low members Jack (drums, and Only Entertainment guitarist), Willem (guitar) and Danny (guitar, also guitarist for Only Entertainment) started a new band with former 7Zuma7 bassplayer Miranda (bassist for Toner Low during 1998-1999, and returning to Toner Low in December 2007). As their vocalist they recruited Dirk (in the late 1990s frontman for local hard rock cover band Five-2-One).
The first rehearsal took place on July 18, 2001. Originally The Mad Löggers formed for just one gig at the Haringrock festival at venue Tripodia in Katwijk. However, the band's live debut was on September 9 in Lisse, and right after the Haringrock show on September 14 they were offered a third one for December. No others followed, but on September 4 and 5, 2002, The Mad Löggers made studio recordings. Early December 2002 a split 12" with H21 was released and promoted with a three-date local tour, playing with H21, Duitse Herder and Fløffgirl. From April until October 2003 more mostly local gigs were done.
Besides self written songs The Mad Löggers played covers from Ramones, MC5, Motörhead and The Monkees. With only one show in 2004 the band returned in September 2005 with a split mcd with the band H.O.T.T., and playing the Haringrock festival again. In the ensuing months a few more gigs were done, with H.O.T.T. and other bands. Throughout 2006 they played a handful more shows, with bands such as Peter Pan Speedrock, H.O.T.T., Cheap Thrills, Left In The Middle, Love Muffin (US) and Jack Saints (US), while some old songs appeared on locally released compilation cds. The final gig was done on November 24, 2006, at Scum in Katwijk.
